An analyst from deutsche bank says that the yearly refresh of the MacBook Air should arrive sometime in July, and it will pack the latest and greatest version of Mac OSX, Lion, which provides over 250 new features such as multitouch gestures and iCloud.
The analyst also believes that it may ship as many as 1.5 million units per quarter when released, which would be around 50% of the total MacBooks shipped.
Right now, while MacBooks Airs are quick to boot up and open applications because of their solid slate drives, they contain the relatively ancient Core Two Duo processors that prevent them from performing anything processor intensive. Sources say that the refresh of the line will pack Intel's new Sandy Bridge processors that would greatly improve performance.
But that's not the interesting part. Some sources also say that a cheaper version of the Air may pack Apple's A5 processor, currently featured in Apple's iPad two. This version would be more inexpensive although the tradeoff would be decreased performance.
