Sony Providing Apple With Cameras?

Yes, it's true, Sony is providing Apple with cameras for the next batch/generation of iPhones, iPods and iPads. During a interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony's CEO, Sir Howard Stringer casually let the fact slip that Sony is producing the cameras for Apple. But is this surprising, Apple not making their own parts, let alone cameras? Not at all, in fact, companies actually give (sell, but lets use the term give) parts to Apple to use, but many companies do not, they refuse. Intel, for example, won't give Apple its processors because Apple uses the ARM architecture, but this is only in portable devices, computers is a different story. Over the years many companies have stopped giving Apple parts and now only a handful are left. If this handful leaves the group, then Apple is in very big trouble. But for now, Sony is still supplying Apple with cameras.

Final speculation comes to what camera can we expect in the iPhone 5? Will it be the Sony Exmor Sensor as in the Xperia Arc, or will it be better? 8 Megapixel? Quadruple LED Flash? I really don't know, but what ever it is, Sony will provide with very good cameras/sensors.

  1. Sony had not made the previous sensors and may end up not making this one and there are no companies afaik that don't deal with apple that being said apple chooses their suppliers and may choose not to buy from a company but the company had bot forbidden it.
