# 4: The Notification bar.
This one is pretty easy. If you've ever used an iPhone for longer than 5 minutes, you've had something that you're doing interrupted by an annoying blue box in the middle of the screen that alerts you to the fact something has happened. Could be a game, could be an email, or maybe a text that is interrupting whatever you're doing. But after it's done interrupting you, it's not even kind enough to stay around so you can remember what you got interrupted about. Android's not like that. Instead of the annoying blue box, your phone buzzes once, and then provides a record of what happened at the top of the screen in the notification bar. It's the best notification bar out there, but that's not all it does. On some Android phones, the notification bar shows you your recently used apps and provides quick access to settings.
The iPhone alternative: Blue Boxes
# 3: Freedom of Carriers!
You can take almost any carrier that you want and know that you'll still be able to get a quality phone. If you are on any of the top four carriers, you will be able to get a dual core or 4G phone (Verizon is the only one without a phone that has both). The iPhone has neither 4G or a dual core processor. Head over to U.S. Cellular, and you'll still be able to get one of two phones that share the same specs with the iPhone 4. Even Cricket (Cricket!?) has three Android devices to choose from. So no matter what carrier you have, you'll be able to get a quality phone. Attached to that iPhone? You have roughly 4 choices by my estimation. Verizon. AT&T. Verizon. AT&T. Yup, 4 choices.
# 2: Hardware
Like the iPhone's touch scree, but wish it was a bit larger, so you could actually read what was displayed on your phone? You are not alone! Join the nearly 25% of Smartphone users who can read their phones! Remember when Steve Jobs said that nobody would buy a Smartphone with a screen larger than that of the iPhone's. Well I do. Clearly. "You'll use it and like it, GOSH DARN IT!" (Steve Jobs). But that's not all. Hardware keyboards. HDMI outputs, 4G, and dual core-ness are all features you can get with an Android phone. But "The features you don't have won't kill you" (Steve Jobs). OK Steve Jobs didn't say that. But he most certainly thought it.
If you are a cricket, you may also get a smaller touch screen.
# 1: Software Customization
Many a person has used an iPhone and wished they could customize it. But, you really can't, save for changing your wallpaper.
"What do you mean I can't customize it!? I can change the Wallpaper!"
The only way to do so is to jailbreak said phone, possibly voiding warranty. Fortunately, Google has provided many tools to customize android. Almost every hardware manufacturer has its unique skin, some, like Motorola, having multiple. And if you don't like any manufacturer skins, there is always the hundreds of launchers in the Android Market. And if you don't like those, you can put a custom ROM like Cyanogen Mod onto your phone. And If you don't like any of those... well then you are way too hard to please.
