Google needs to update its phones faster

That, my friends, is a little something that we like to call an Android Fragmentation chart. If you look up to the top of your screen, you'll see a lot of Green. Now remember, green = good. If you look at the bottom of that very same chart, you'll see a bunch of orange, red, and yellow. These colors are bad.

Why is Green good, you might ask? Well, green is good because it means that your phone is up to date, allowing it to have the latest software goodies that Google or Apple can provide. And when you have a phone powered by Apple's iOS, that's OK because for the most part, your phone will be up to date for years to come.

But nowadays, a phone powered by Google's Android operating system can expect, one, maybe two updates before it sees the end of its life cycle. And don't expect to receive that update on time, no sir.]

I must admit, I wasn't very truthful with the title of the article. It really isn't Google's job to make sure that these phones get updated. They just release the source code and hope for the best.

What I want Google to do is to pressure manufacturers and carriers into releasing the updates sooner or risk facing sanctions against them.
