Motorola bragged of the phone's sleek profile, the powerful processor, and the Kevlar backing. Motorola also spoke of the first qHD Super AMOLED display. But in reality, the display disappointed.
Deficiencies in the display department- Engadget
Not only are individual pixels readily apparent, but text looks jaggy, there’s red fringing around vertical lines- Washington Post
Cons: Pentile Display- CNETUsers and reviewers alike all complained of the same thing: the display. At first glance, the display should have been one of the phone's strongest areas. It features SAMOLED technology that has been widely praised for excellent viewing angles, vibrant colors, and good battery management. So where's the issue?
The Droid Razr features a PenTile display, a screen technology that lowers the cost of manufacturing it and increases battery life at the expense of crisp text and images. As we have examined in previous articles, this is because it uses only half the number of blue and red sub pixels as the number of green ones, resulting in a greenish tinge.
I know from experience how bad a PenTile display can be, as I carried about a PenTile toting atrix for 8 months.
So this is me pleading to Motorola: can you please stop crippling your great phones with these displays
