Verizon Wireless released their 4G LTE Wireless Broadband hotspot will be available to purchase on Thursday (3-31-2011) and will boast some of the fastest wireless broadband speeds in the United States. The download speeds start at about 5 Mbps and go up to around 15 Mbps, while upload still lags at anywhere form 2-6 Mbps. However, this speed comes at a hefty price, the hotspot costs $100 with a $50 dollar rebate and a 4G LTE plan that is $50 a month with a 5 GB data cap every month. Overall, you get great speed and reliability but internet power users should watch for data caps, and everyone should be cautious of the high cost of the LTE plan and the hotspot. Overall, it is an average buy, but if your phone has a mobile hotspot or if you do not need wireless broadband, I suggest you wait for prices to go down.
