One of the most persistent questions for those who have Android phone is how to sideload apps. Most carriers allow it, but America's second largest carrier, AT&T, does not, for whatever reason. Maybe you are a developer who needs to test your app, or an Android enthusiast who wants a non market app. Whatever your reason for sideloading, here are 4 easy steps to add non market apps to your AT&T android phone
1. Download Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine.
Yes, that is what it is really called. For the purposes of this article we will call it SLWM. After downloading (see link at end of article) run the installer. The installer will automatically put a link onto your desktop. Although there are other ways to enable sideloading, many of them require root access, which can be hard to obtain. SLWM is easy to use and works without a root.
2. Set your Android phone to enable USB Debugging.
You can find USB debugging under Settings>Applications>Development> USB Debugging. USB debugging MUST be turned on; otherwise you will not be able to sideload apps.
3. Download the APK file for the app you want to sideload.
Just do a Google search for the app that you want to sideload and download the APK file in a folder where you can easily find it.
4. Plug in your phone to the computer and run SLWM
Just run SLWM and follow the self explanatory instructions on how to install the file.
Now you have your non market app right on your phone. If anyone is having trouble, leave a comment, and I will try to the best of my ability to answer your question.
