Hardware:
Unfortunately for those who hoped for a different design, the iPhone 4S will feature the same hard to hold and glass backed design of the the previous generation. The antenna has been altered so that the phone will not lose reception no matter how you hold it, which is an obvious plus. The 4S will feature an updated 8 megapixel sensor, the very same one featured in the MyTouch 4G slide.
Internals:
Apple reports that the 4S will feature an A5 processor, though the clock speed is probably lower than that of the A5 featured in the iPad 2 for the simple reason that Apple has underclocked every single iPhone that it has released. That A5 will be backed up by 1 gigabyte of RAM, the same featured in iPad 2.
Carriers:
No 4G iPhone this year on any carrier, unfortunately. The only model that will feature faster data speeds in the AT&T model, which will feature 14.4 mb/s HSPA+. Sprint will feature the iPhone 4s as well.
Overall, the iPhone 4S seems to be an evolutionary release, rather than the thinner, 4 inch screen toting, 1.2 ghz sporting model that many had hoped for.
