The Motorola Atrix is a beast of a phone that can dominate in the benchmarks and fly through most real life applications although not without the occasional hiccup.
Specs and Meaning
Dual Core 1 GHz Tegra 2 = If it uses CPU or GPU it can take it.
1GB of Ram= Opening applications and the like is blazing fast.
qHD Screen= Has a beautiful high resolution screen that is crisp, bright, and is made of Cornell Gorilla Glass.
5 Mega Pixel Camera= Nice camera, but with a few flaws (to be mentioned later).
Build Quality
This is not a svelte phone, it has a beautiful four-inch screen and dual core processors so you give up the super thin beauty for a beast of a phone. I still feel that the phone is plenty thin and feels good in hand.
The phone feels very solid and with the Gorilla glass it should be able to handle a decent fall.
Software
I find Motoblur less offensive than some, but others would prefer an unskinned OS. This is less of an issue than people make it for, as it is simple to download an alternate launcher if it suits you.
Occasionally, I have experienced situations where the phone would not respond to inputs and because the hardware is powerful I believe this may be the fault of the skin. Since the recent update, this issue has gotten better but it's still not as good as I'd like it to be.
Camera
The camera has 5MP capabilities with a dual LED flash and will be adequate for most. Technologically, I find it tends to slightly underexpose and the flash has a slight greenish cast on the resulting photos. The default camera app lacks some features I find essential, such as tap to focus and more advanced controls, but this is easily remedied by the market. My personal favorite app is Camera360.
Example of Green Tinted Flash
Example of what I see as a slight underexposure.
It also includes a VGA front facing camera of no immense quality.
Rooting
The system can be simple and quickly rooted using SuperOneClick. But the benefit here is not applicable to some because the Atrix has a locked bootloader that prevents custom firmwares. There is still a possibility some creative dev will come up with a solution, but don't hold your breath (you'll die).
Update
With the newest update I have noticed that the screen freezing issue has significantly decreased. The uncapped HSUPA has not significantly helped me in use, because I do not upload large amounts of data. The only thing it helps in is downloads can start sooner because the information from my device gets to the server faster.
