HTC Status discontinued

It appears that after only 36 days on the market, the first Facebook phone in the U.S. has been axed.

The defining feature of the Status was the fact that it included a so called Facebook button which allowed users to post what they were currently using (webpage, music) to Facebook with one press of a button.

The Status fell the way of the Microsoft kin because though it was geared towards teens as a low end messaging smartphone, the target audience would rather have a fully fledged smartphone than a watered down replacement.

It received mixed reviews from critics who praised the solid hardware but berated the implementation of the Facebook button, and the small screen.

I visited the AT&T store today. The Status was still on sale. Might I have been one of the last to see the Status in stores before it goes the way of the dinosaur?

  1. This is a rumor posted as fact, that is poor journalism.
